If You Can't Read This, Don't Panic Monday, November 25, 2002 Keenspace is changing servers, so you may or may not see this message today. And if not, now you know why. Or something. Heck, I don't even know if I'll be able to upload this tonight, but I'm playing along, so I see no reason why you shouldn't, too. So I have this list. Well, I call it a list but I never remember more than one item at a time, so it's more of a Revolving Item. So I have this Revolving Item, and it is Things You Need To Do For Me to Call Your Game Good. The first one, which is so obvious that it doesn't even count as part of the Not-A-List, is that the game has to be entertaining. I mean, it's a game. The Revolving Items kick in once the game has achieved entertaining stature. And the Item currently revolved into my head is this: No matter how proud you are of the in-game music, let me turn it off. The ability to turn off music and keep sound effects on is one of those little things that always earns points. It allows me to excel at my consumer status and waste even more electricity by having the game station, television, and radio on. Plus, it lets me turn off your goddamn annoying music. Sorry, but there are few games with impressive enough soundtracks that I am willing to sit in front of their looping audio for hours at a time. | ||
